Alan Spence’s Group 3-winning West End Girl is the star name for the inaugural online sale hosted by Tattersalls which will conclude on Monday, June 15, the eve of Royal Ascot.

Trained by Mark Johnston, West End Girl secured her Group 3 success when taking the Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket last year and was last seen finishing third in the Listed Lingfield Oaks Trial behind Miss Yoda last week.

The three-year-old daughter of Golden Horn, who is out of Free Rein, a Dansili half-sister to Group 1 winner Reckless Abandon, is set to be entered for the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes next week.

Spence said: “West End Girl is a very smart and very well-bred filly who has a big future ahead of her. It was always the intention to sell her at the end of the year, but when we heard about the Tattersalls Online sale, we felt it was the perfect platform for a filly with her credentials.

“She is not just a Ribblesdale prospect, she could also head for the Oaks and being a proven Group winner on good to firm ground makes her very attractive to buyers from throughout the world, all of whom I am sure will be impressed by the Tattersalls Online platform.”

Four other lots will be offered for purchase on the online platform including the impressive debutant winners Igotatext and Muker, who are being aimed at the Group 2 Coventry Stakes and Listed Windsor Castle Stakes respectively.

Completing the line-up are the Brian Ellison-trained Tantastic, also bound for the Windsor Castle Stakes, and Kevin Ryan’s Star Of Emaraaty, who is aiming for the Group 3 Albany Stakes.

The Tattersalls online sale will begin at midday on Saturday before concluding on Monday and the platform will serve as a portal into online sales held on any of the Tattersalls Group websites – Tattersalls, Tattersalls Ascot, Tattersalls Cheltenham and Tattersalls Ireland.

The new TattersallsOnline.com platform will feature photos and videos of each horse, details of where the horses can be inspected, as well as links to veterinary information including x-rays and endoscopes.

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony added: “TattersallsOnline.com is an exciting new chapter for Tattersalls and it is fitting that we have a filly as exciting as West End Girld to headline the first sale on the eve of Royal Ascot.

“We have been quietly working on an online platform for a couple of years but have accelerated the development and launch in response to the new challenges we all face as a result of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are confident that buyers and vendors will find TattersallsOnline.com easy and convenient to use and we are looking forward to showcasing a small but select group of horses in training on the eve of the world’s most prestigious race meeting.”
