The Irish National Stud has reacted to the current challenging economic environment by announcing a reduction in the fees of all eight of its stallions.
Speaking on the publication of the prices, Chief Executive Cathal Beale said: “There’s no denying this year has been a tough one. With that in mind, we present our stallions for 2021 with all fees significantly reduced, by up to 66 per cent, to allow breeders to find value and profit in years to come.”
Heading the roster is leading sire Invincible Spirit, whose progeny include the likes of Kingman, Nazeef and Digital Age. The son of Green Desert has had his fee reduced from €100,000 to €80,000 for 2021.
Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Phoenix Of Spain will stand for €12,500 next year instead of €15,000 while Free Eagle, the sire of Derby second Khalifa Sat, will stand for €8,000, down from €12,500.
Decorated Knight, whose first two-year-olds are set to hit the track next year, will command a fee of €7,500 while Group 1-winning two-year-old National Defense, another who will have his first runners in 2021, will stand at a reduced price of €5,000.
The fee for Equiano, who transferred from Newsells Park Stud, in his first season at the County Kildare operation has been set at €3,000.
Completing the roster are Elusive Pimpernel and Dragon Pulse who will stand at fees of €2,500 and €2,000 respectively.
