Dame Malliot has run her final race after trainer Ed Vaughan revealed that the daughter of Champs Elysees will join the broodmare band of her owner-breeder Anthony Oppenheimer.
The four-year-old, who took the Group 2 Princess Of Wales’s Stakes in July, nearly provided Vaughan with a Group 1 winner before his retirement later this year, finishing second behind Wonderful Tonight in the Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot.
Speaking to the Racing Post, Vaughan said: “She’s retired now and will go back to the lovely stud at Hascombe in the next week and be covered next year. She’s a cracker and hopefully will produce another good one.
“It would have been lovely if it had happened [the Group 1 win] but she ran a great race in defeat and there are no complaints this end.
“We can’t be coming up with any excuses and the one that beat us was the one I feared. She’s been a model of consistency all year and I couldn’t be happier with her.”
A Hascombe and Valiant homebred, Dame Malliot is out of the winning Galileo mare Stars In Your Eyes and hails from the family of Coronation Stakes heroine Rebecca Sharp, Oppenheimer’s multiple Group 1 winner Golden Horn and the Group 2-winning Frankly Darling.
