Irish owners Noel and Valerie Moran of Bective Stud added an exciting prospect to their string on Tuesday as they struck at £300,000 for exciting debut winner Hollymount during the Goffs UK Online January Sale.

The five-year-old daughter of Jet Away made her debut at Carlisle last month where she had dispatched of her closest rival, Lagonda, by an impressive eight lengths for trainer Stuart Crawford and owner-breeder Jane Buchanan.

Out of the winning Zaffaran mare Zaffarella, Hollymount is a half-sister to the winning and Grade 2-placed Windsor Avenue, and the four-time National Hunt scorer Ravenhill Road.

The Morans, who have horses in training with Gordon Elliott, have been key players at major National Hunt sales in recent months having purchased winning point-to-pointer Ginto for €470,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham November Sale.

At last month’s Goffs December National Hunt auction, the pair had the final say at €530,000 to secure 11-time Grade 1 heroine Apple’s Jade to join the broodmare band at their County Meath operation.

Another star of the catalogue for the January Online Sale on Tuesday was dual Grade 1 heroine La Bague Au Roi, who was bought by Kevin Doyle and Peter Nolan Bloodstock for £170,000.

The ten-year-old daughter of Doctor Dino had been trained by Warren Greatrex for owners Mrs Julien Turner and Andrew Merriam to win 14 races including the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase and the Flogas Novice Chase.
