Today’s racing
Wolverhampton’s all-weather card today stages the Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes with the field headed by the Richard Hannon-trained Urban Icon.
The four-year-old hasn’t been seen since finishing third in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at Newmarket last July. Prior to that he had finished fourth in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot as well as being third behind Mohaather in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes.
Urban Icon will face nine rivals in a bid to regain the winning thread including the Mark Johnston-trained trio Cardsharp, Blown By Wind and Marie’s Diamond.
Others to note are David O’Meara’s Gulliver and Documenting, who lines up for Kevin Frost in a bid to improve on his unlucky fifth in this contest a year ago.
Chelmsford also race on the all-weather today while there are jumps fixtures from Ayr, Gowran Park and Hereford.
Additional all-weather fixture at Kempton
Kempton will stage an additional all-weather fixture on Monday due to the impact further rain may have on existing turf fixtures.
The meeting will be a six-race card with the option to divide to seven races if required and entries will close today at midday. Declarations are required by 10am on Sunday.
