Today’s racing

Kempton is the main attraction today as it hosts eight races headed by the Grade 2 Pendil Novices’ Chase (2m4f) and the Grade 2 Adonis Juvenile Hurdle (2m).

The Chris Gordon-trained Commanche Red heads the Pendil field having been an impressive winner at the same venue on Boxing Day when beating the Harry Whittington Simply The Betts by nine lengths.

Paul Nicholls is responsible for Southfield Stone and Master Tommytucker, who had shown promise but fell in a competitive renewal of the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices’ Chase won by the Colin Tizzard-trained Slate House.

In the Adonis Juvenile Hurdle, the horse that catches eye is the Emmet Mullins-trained Fujimoto Flyer who is now owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede. The daughter of Admire Moon was last seen winning the Listed Prix Pelat hurdle in Auteuil by nine lengths.

Jumps cards are also held at Newcastle, which stages the Eider Chase, and Fairyhouse today. There are all-weather meetings from Lingfield and Chelmsford today.

The BHA announced on Friday that an additional all-weather fixture will be held on Southwell on Monday.

It will be a six-race card, with the ability to divide to seven races if required, and entries will close today at noon. Declarations are required by 10am on Sunday.
