Today’s racing

The all-weather action continues apace at Southwell today with the six-furlong handicap on the card worth £12,450 to the winner.

Typhoon Ten, trained by Richard Hannon for Des Anderson, was last seen finishing third at Lingfield this month and this contest looks ideal for him to produce another strong performance.

Course and distance winner Zylan, trained by Roger Fell, and Richard Fahey’s last time out scorer Wasntexpectingthat are the biggest dangers in the seven-runner field.

National Hunt racing in Britain and Ireland today hinges on Newcastle, Lingfield and Down Royal all passing their respective inspections early this morning.

Linda’s Lad joins Yorton Farm

Yorton Farm Stud has added another new recruit to its roster for the 2020 breeding season in the shape of the Group 1-winning and proven jumps sire Linda’s Lad.

The son of Sadler’s Wells transfers from Vauterhill Stud in Devon where he has stood since 2017 having covered a book of 114 mares in 2019.

David Futter, Yorton Director, said: “We have always wanted to stand a son of Sadler’s Wells, and Linda’s Lad offers so many other positive aspects.

“He is a good-looking horse and was a Group 1 winner over ten furlongs on soft ground as a two-year-old, before proving a high-class performer at three and four. He is out of an Alleged mare and has passed on his ability to his progeny, getting black-type winners and enjoying a terrific ratio of winners to runners.

“We are delighted to secure his future in Britain, and in a week when two of his best offspring – Cash Back and Tout Est Permis – are set to run in Ireland.”

A fee for Linda’s Lad will be announced at a later date.
