Today’s racing

The Jessica Harrington-trained Magic Of Light bids for back-to-back victories in the Listed Thoroughbred Breeders Association Mares’ Chase (2m7½f) at Newbury today.

Last year, Magic Of Light took this contest by 14 lengths from the Colin Tizzard-trained Drinks Interval, who is again in opposition.

Completing the four-runner field is the Grace Harris-trained Field Exhibition, who will be ridden by up-and-coming jockey Ben Jones, and the Ben Case-trained Graceful Legend, last seen winning at Bangor in November.

Ludlow also stages a jumps fixture today while there are all-weather cards from Lingfield, Newcastle and Dundalk (Ireland).

Dee Ex Bee heads to Dubai

The popular stayer Dee Ex Bee, who clashed with Stradivarius throughout this year, has left the care of Mark Johnston and has joined Salem bin Ghadayer’s string in Dubai for the winter.

Johnston told the Racing Post: “We’re used to having horses join Godolphin from here over the years but Salem bin Ghadayer is Sheikh Hamdan’s main trainer out there so I understand Dee Ex Bee and the others have joined him.

“We’ve been told we’ll be getting them back next year and hopefully they’ll do well out there. There looks as if there’s only one main race that Dee Ex Bee can go for which is the Group 2 Dubai Gold Cup on World Cup night.”
