Today’s racing

With Lingfield’s meeting abandoned due to waterlogging, there is jumps racing from Catterick and Fakenham today.

The latter’s card includes the Sky Sports Racing Handicap Chase (2m5f), worth £10,000 to the winner, which will see a field of seven line up for the contest at 1.40pm.

Encore Champs, trained by Warren Greatrex, is the favourite for this race but he will have to be at his best against the Ben Case-trained Kilbrew Boy and the Laura Morgan-trained Thomas Todd, both winners last time out.

Vinndication to miss Ascot

Kim Bailey’s exciting second-season chaser Vinndication will miss an intended run at Ascot on Saturday after suffering a setback, which is expected to keep the chaser out of action until the second half of the season.

Bailey told the Racing Post: “He’s suffered a bone bruise and we need to make sure it’s all back to normal before he returns.

“He’ll have a month on the easy list and hopefully he’ll be back for the second half of the season. He’ll be properly assessed on January 10 and if he’s clean and okay he’ll carry on in training.”
