Yeomanstown Stud will welcome Shamardal’s Group 2-winning son Shaman to its roster for the 2021 breeding season.

A Wertheimer homebred, Shaman is out of the Listed-winning Green Desert mare Only Green, herself a half-sister to blue hen Occupandiste, while the further family includes outstanding mare Elle Seule, a daughter of the great Fall Aspen.

Sent into training with Carlos Laffon-Parias, Shaman ran five times as a two-year-old, winning twice, and at three he captured the Listed Prix Omnium and the Group 3 Prix la Force. That was then followed by a run in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains where he was beaten a length into second by Persian King.

He returned at four to land the Group 2 Prix d’Harcout in May of this year.

David O’Callaghan of Yeomanstown Stud said: “He is a great looking son of the mighty Shamardal from one of the best pedigrees around, add to that his impressive race record and Shaman is a huge addition to us and should prove popular to breeders from both Ireland and abroad.

“We are delighted to have Wertheimer Et Frere retain a share in Shaman and look forward to their support.”

A fee for Shaman will be announced at a later date.
