This year’s Oaks winner Qualify is likely to prove a major draw for the Tattersalls’ December Sale after being catalogued to sell through The Castlebridge Consignment.

Bred by her trainer Aidan O’Brien under his family’s Whisperview Trading banner, the daughter of Fastnet Rock overhauled her high-flying stablemate Legatissimo when striking late for a short-head triumph at Epsom in June.

Racing in the colours of Chantal Regalado Gonzalez, Qualify won her maiden at Dundalk last July before going on to land the Group 3 CL & MF Weld Park Stakes. Her sole victory has come in the Oaks, after which she was sixth to Jack Hobbs in the Irish Derby.

She will become the first Epsom Oaks winner to be sold in the year of her Classic triumph for more than 50 years and, aside, from her racing success, owns a desirable pedigree, being from the Juddmonte family of fellow Classic winners Workforce and Brian Boru. Out of the Galileo mare Perihelion, Qualify’s two-year-old full-brother Shogun was beaten less than two lengths in the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on Sunday.

“It is very rare for an Oaks winner to be offered at public auction, especially in the year of her Classic triumph, and it is a privilege to be offering Qualify on behalf of Mrs Regalado Gonzalez,” said Tattersalls’ Chairman Edmond Mahony.

“She is a gorgeous filly, a Classic winner and a Group winner at two years old, and she is beautifully bred. It is hard to find such a complete package and the Tattersalls December Sale will be the perfect stage for a filly of such quality.”
