Racing presenters Alice Plunkett, Rishi Persad, Nick Luck, Luke Harvey and Emma Spencer have joined the fundraising initiative launched by the team behind Bolesworth and Liverpool International Horse Shows, Equestrian Relief.

The five have joined together as a team and will tackle a daily challenge from five challenges: running a 5k in the fastest possible time, holding the plank position for as long as possible, baking an Easter themed cake, drawing their best achievement incorporating a horse, and letting their hidden talent shine.

All challenges will adhere to the government’s guidelines around coronavirus and will be completed by each team member at home.

Members of England’s Polo team have also taking part with a line-up of Mark Tomlinson, Jake Richardson, Malcolm Borwick, Tom Morley and Hazel Jackson. They will compete against the racing and Olympic teams.

Sir Anthony McCoy and Frankie Dettori joined the campaign last week alongside eventing world champions Ros Canter and Zara Tindall, along with Olympic gold medallists Carl Hester and Scott Brash.

The initiative, which runs until April 13, will raise vitals funds for the NHS in its fight to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday the campaign launched a charity auction for the public to bid on. Items include a pair of breeches signed by Dettori, a round of golf with McCoy and Oli Bell, and the chance to join Plunkett and William Fox-Pitt for dinner.

Plunkett said: “Equestrian Relief is such a fantastic initiative. I just couldn’t wait to pull together a team. It’s a great opportunity to have lots of fun and raise money for a fabulous cause – whilst adhering to all of the guidelines that are currently in place. Please make sure you support us.”

Nina Barbour, Bolesworth Managing Director, added: “Our priority is to unite the horse world to support our health workers and our goal is to raise a sum of money that will make a real difference. All donations will go directly to NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Crisis Fund – supporting NHS staff and volunteers on the frontline as they work under pressure in the most challenging of circumstances.

“We’ve already got some fabulous sponsors on board – including Bolesworth supporters Al Shira’aa, Aztec Diamond Equestrian, Equerry, Equitop and Horse Scout – who have all made generous contributions and we’re thrilled to say that we’ve got off to a fantastic start.”
