The Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale takes place at Germiston, just outside Johannesburg, on Friday, November 2 and Sunday, November 4 and features a catalogue described by the organisers as “fat with its number of foreign-bred entries”.

Among the international sires represented are Danehill Dancer, Encosta De Lago, Fastnet Rock and Rock Of Gibraltar, while there is also a juvenile colt by Coolmore’s exciting young stallion Henrythenavigator, who is set to move from Ashford Stud in Kentucky to Coolmore’s Irish farm for the 2013 season.

“We are very excited about the strength of our catalogue this year, and the gallops proved that there are some fine racehorses on offer,” said Tom Callaghan, CEO of Bloodstock South Africa. “All the big boys are well represented, from the mighty Jet Master to leading sires like Western Winter, Var, Trippi, Kahal, Silvano, Captain Al, Dynasty and Fort Wood. There are also some great new stallions of the future represented and Admire Main, AP Arrow and Mullins Bay are making a lot of horsemen sit up and take notice.

“I would also like to thank all the vendors who are supporting this sale, the quality of their horseflesh and the preparation of their horses have definitely raised the bar, ensuring the success and longevity of this fabulous concept.”

Sandwiched between the two days of selling in Johannesburg is the Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup at Turffontein on Saturday, November 5, which is worth R2million and is contested by a maximum of 16 graduates of last year’s sale.
