The rapid rise of Hollie Doyle has not gone unnoticed with Derby-winning owner Imad Al Sagar snapping up the jockey to be his retained rider.

As the co-owner of the likes of Authorized, winner of the Epsom showpiece in 2007, Decorated Knight, Araafa and Aljazzi, Al Sagar has enjoyed many big-race successes and is looking forward to the new partnership with Doyle.

He said: “We are thrilled to add Hollie Doyle to our team. We have all been impressed with how Hollie has risen to become one of the best of her profession. She is an extremely dedicated, strong and astute jockey.

“We have some horses to run for us this season and I look forward to Hollie becoming an invaluable member of our team.”

Doyle added: “I am delighted to be teaming up with Imad Al Sagar for the near future. I hope that we will have plenty of success.”

No stopping Magical

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Magical struck in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on Sunday and in the process secured back-to-back victories in the Group 1 contest.

O’Brien, who was not present at the Curragh due to a two-week suspension after breaching Covid-19 protocols, told the Racing Post: “She is a great mare. The only reason she is here now is because of the progress she made over the winter and she had progressed again from the Pretty Polly, so we are delighted the lads kept her in training.

“She might get a little bit of an easy time of it now, but the options would be the Juddmonte International and the Irish Champion Stakes. She could wait for the Irish Champion, but we’ll see.”
