This year’s Prix Alain du Breil winner For Fun has been retired to stand at Haras de la Hetraie for the 2021 season.

The move sees him become the first son of Derby hero Motivator to stud.

For Fun won three races for trainer Guillaume Macaire. His record includes two victories at three, notably the Listed Prix Le Parisien, while he also ran third in the Grade 1 Prix Cambaceres behind fellow Hetraie resident Nirvana Du Berlais.

However, he came into his own this year as a four-year-old when his successes included the Grade 1 Prix Alain du Breil at Compiegne at the expense of Grade 3 winner James Du Berlais.

Bred by Haras du Quesnay, For Fun is a half-brother to Group 1 winners Fuisse and Full Of Gold, both of whom also stand at stud, in Ireland and France respectively.

For Fun joins an eight-strong roster at Hetraie that also includes Kapgarde, perhaps best known as the sire of dual King George VI Chase winner Clan Des Obeaux, Benie Des Dieux’s sire Great Pretender, Nirvana Du Berlais and German Derby hero Pastorius.

His fee has been set at €3,000.
