Tattersalls Ireland has announced that its Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sale will be relocated to Park Paddocks in Newmarket in June owing to Covid-19-related travel restrictions in Ireland.
It is the second year in a row the auction will be staged in Britain and at last year’s rescheduled edition there was a 9% increase in the average, a 22% increase in the median and a healthy 85% clearance rate.
As Newmarket’s Rowley Mile is currently operating as a vaccination centre, the practice breeze and breeze will take place on June 1 and June 2 respectively. The sale will be held on June 3.
Tattersalls Ireland Chief Executive Simon Kerins said: “The decision to relocate the Tattersalls Ireland Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sale reflects our commitment to providing the most vibrant marketplace possible for our Breeze-Up vendors and we believe that this option deliver the best chance of achieving that goal.
“We are extremely fortunate to have the option to relocate to Europe’s premier bloodstock sales venue in Tattersalls and we are very grateful to the teams at both Tattersalls and Newmarket Racecourse for again accommodating the sale.”
Brendan Holland of Grove Stud added: “I’m glad Tattersalls Ireland have addressed the uncertainty of the sale early which gives everyone a chance to reorganise themselves and hopefully it makes it easier for everyone to attend the sale in these difficult times. I am sure it will continue to be a success, it is always one of my favourite sales of the year.”
