Having won the race every year since 2017, the Charlie Hills-trained Battaash will bid for a record fourth victory in the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes at Goodwood today.

Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum’s son of Dark Angel comes into the race having broken his hoodoo at Royal Ascot last month to finally win the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes.

His six rivals are Liberty Beach, Glass Slippers, Ornate, Dubai Station, Al Raya and French raider Ken Colt.

Goodwood’s card today also features the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes (7f), the Group 3 Thoroughbred Stakes (1m) and the Group 3 Glorious Stakes (1m4f).

Rest of today’s action

There are plenty of other race meetings on today with all-weather action at Lingfield and Wolverhampton, a Flat fixture from Pontefract and a jumps card from Galway.
