Sir Robert Ogden’s homebred Group 1 winner Amazing Maria will spearhead a draft of 24 mares and fillies who will come under the hammer at the Tattersalls December Sale later this year.

In foal to Oasis Dream, the daughter of Mastercraftsman got the better of Euro Charline by a length to take the 2015 running of the Falmouth Stakes for Ogden and trainer David O’Meara.

A month later she added the Group 1 Prix Rothschild to her record and after a disappointing campaign in 2016, she was retired to the owner-breeder’s broodmare band.

A total of 24 mares and fillies will be offered on behalf of Ogden from Barton Stud and that number also includes Amazing Maria’s daughter, the winning Golden Hind, and half-sister, the winning three-year-old Turandot.

Another of Amazing Maria’s daughters catalogued is her first foal by Dubawi, Amazing Grace, who is in foal to Teofilo. Amazing Maria’s dam Messias Da Silva will also be offered to prospective buyers.

Also featuring in the draft are the dual winner Imperial Butterfly, by Oasis Dream and out of the Rip Van Winkle mare Madame Butterfly, and Renaissance, a juvenile from the first crop of Caravaggio who won at the third time of asking for O’Meara in July.

Eye-catching broodmares also include the Listed-winning Blue Gardenia, who is offered in foal to Showcasing, and Carpe Vita, a winning daughter of Montjeu who is an own sister to Classic winner Leading Light who also carries a cover to the Whitsbury Manor Stud stallion.

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said: “Sir Robert has been a huge contributor to British racing enjoying enormous success over many years and it is a privilege to have his team of 24 beautifully bred fillies and mares selling at the forthcoming Tattersalls December Sale.

“Sir Robert’s fillies and mares will undoubtedly be amongst the highlights of Europe’s premier breeding stock sale and the outstanding multiple Group 1 winner Amazing Maria, who was a favourite of so many when competing and winning at the highest level, will be a headline act.”
