The final dispersal of the late Peter Magnier’s Brittas House Stud was the main focus of Tuesday’s Tattersalls Online March Sale and saw Listed winner We Are Ninety snapped up by BBA Ireland for 75,000gns.
An eight-year-old daughter of Thewayyouare out of the Sadler’s Wells mare Brigids Cross, We Are Ninety boasts a pedigree that includes Group 1 winners Listen, Henrythenavigator and Magician.
Trained by Hugo Palmer, We Are Ninety won a mile and a half maiden on debut in October 2015 and scored twice at three, including the Listed Fillies’ Trial Stakes at Newbury in May 2016.
Since retiring to the paddocks, We Are Ninety is the dam of Hala Be Zain, I’m A Gambler and was offered with her filly foal by Calyx at foot. She also boasted a covering by one of Coolmore’s newest recruits, last year’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe hero Sottsass.
Michael O’Donohue of BBA Ireland said: “We Are Ninety was an obvious pick; she was a smart performer from a very good family, she has a nice foal and it’s an exciting cover.
“The Tattersalls Online platform worked seamlessly and it’s a format we are all becoming increasingly comfortable with.”
BBA Ireland also moved to secure another mare from the Brittas House Stud dispersal in the shape of Zee Zee Gee, in foal to No Nay Never, at a final bid of 48,000gns.
The daughter of Galileo, herself out of the Zafonic mare Zee Zee Top, hails from Meon Valley Stud’s magnificent Reprocolor family and is a half-sister to dual Group 1 heroine Izzi Top and Group 2 winner Jazzi Top.
She is the dam of five winners including Farzeen, a daughter of Farhh whose career was handled by Roger Varian to win two races from 11 starts as well as finishing second behind Lady Bowthorpe in the Group 3 Fillies’ Stakes at Ascot last July.
Zee Zee Gee’s yearling filly by No Nay Never, sire of Group 1 winners Alcohol Free and Ten Sovereigns, was the third top-priced lot of Tuesday’s digital offering as she went the way of Whitehall Stables for 45,000gns.
This is the third time that Tattersalls has offered a sale via its digital platform and all told 19 lots sold for gross receipts of 354,100gns. The average stood at 18,637gns and the median recorded a figure of 6,000gns.
