Anthea Gibson Fleming and Ted Voute will join the TBA Board from July 7 after winning the most votes in an election to appoint two new members.
A record number of votes cast saw the two successful candidates narrowly edge out serving board member Chris Wight and TBA regional representative John Needham.
Anthea Gibson Fleming, a small breeder and popular face at Flat and National Hunt sales, said of her appointment: “It is a great honour to serve on the TBA board, and I am grateful to all those who have supported me in the election.
“I hope that my experience and knowledge will be of benefit to the board and TBA members. My particular focus will be representing small breeders whose breeding and racing future is determined by sales returns.”
A renowned sales consignor and racing advisor to Prince Faisal, Ted Voute is also pleased to have been elected to serve on the board. He said: “I join a strong and changing board of members with vast experience who have been both innovative and a guardian to thoroughbred breeders.
“I look forward to the challenges in the coming years and hope that my contribution will be a worthy addition to the Board.”
Outgoing TBA Chairman Richard Lancaster, who will be succeeded by Julian Richmond-Watson at the forthcoming AGM on July 7, welcomed the two new members, saying: “I would like to send my thanks to all four candidates who stood for election and devoted their time recently to the TBA.
“I congratulate Anthea and Ted for their success in yet another closely contested election. In my final few weeks of being TBA Chairman it is fantastic to see a TBA board so well represented and one which I am confident will help to strengthen the importance of the TBA in the racing and breeding industry.”
