Treve retained her unbeaten record in style at Chantilly on Sunday, running out the four-length winner of the Prix de Diane for her owner-breeder Haras du Quesnay and trainer Criquette Head-Maarek.

There was double cause for celebration for the Head family as not only is she a product of a family which has served the Normandy stud well down the years, but her sire Motivator is just completing his first season at Quesnay having been transferred there from the Royal Studs last year.

Treve, a half-sister to Listed winner Trois Rois out of the Anabaa mare Trevise and from the further family of Triptych, has raced just three times, winning a mile maiden at Longchamp last September before claiming the Prix Perruche Bleue over the same distance at Saint-Cloud in May.

The step up in trip was clearly to her liking as she strode further clear of a field which contained the multiple Group 1 winners Silasol amd Flotilla, who eventually finished third and eighth respectively. Paul Makin’s Chicquita came wide towards the stands rail to take second.

Treve becomes the second Group 1 winner for the 2005 Derby winner Motivator, whose daughter Ridasiyna won last year’s Prix de l’Opera for the Aga Khan. In contrast to his sire Montjeu, whose colts have a notably better record than his fillies, Motivator has proved to be a decent sire of distaffers, with stakes winners Pollenator, Clinical, Skia, Motrice and Vow also among his best offspring.
