Today’s racing

Royale Pagaille, owned by Susannah Ricci, will only face two rivals in Huntingdon’s 2m7f beginners chase in a bid to open his British account at the second time of asking.

The six-year-old son of Blue Presil, who was trained in France by Francois Nicolle prior to joining Venetia Williams’ yard in January, made his debut at Chepstow earlier this year where he was beaten nine and a half lengths by Vision Des Flos in a match race.

Royale Pagaille is entitled to have come on from that display and lines up against Ben Pauling’s Equus Secretus and the Fergal O’Brien-trained Lies About Milan.

Jumps racing is also held at Leopardstown today while Sedgefield’s National Hunt card will have to pass a 7am inspection if it is to go ahead.

Maximum Security wins Saudi Cup

Maximum Security justified favouritism when he ran out the winner of the inaugural Saudi Cup at Riyadh on Saturday.

Racing in the Coolmore colours for the first time since the operation purchased a 50% interest in the three-year-old son of New Year’s Day.

Entering the home straight, Maximum Security had work to do to catch the leader Mucho Gusto. But, under the urgings of jockey Luis Saez, he duly responded to hit the front close to home before holding off Midnight Bisou to win by three-quarters of a length.
