Today’s racing

Warwick’s card today will play host to the rearranged Grade 2 Jane Seymour Novices’ Hurdle (2m3f), which was lost from Sandown’s abandoned meeting last Friday.

Seven runners line up for this contest including the Phil Kirby-trained Desaray Girl, who brought up a hat-trick of victories in impressive fashion when she scored by 13 lengths at Sedgefield last month.

Her opponents include the last-time out scorers Emmas Joy, trained by Dan Skelton, Venetia Williams’ Fontaine Collonges and the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Vienna Court.

Also racing over jumps today is Exeter while Newcastle stages a jumpers’ bumpers card on its all-weather surface. There are all-weather meetings from Wolverhampton and Dundalk as well.

Ghaiyyath sparkles on return

Godolphin’s dual Group 1 scorer Ghaiyyath made his seasonal debut a winning one on Thursday when he took the Group 3 Dubai Millennium Stakes (1m2f) by eight and a half lengths.

The son of Dubawi, who is trained by Charlie Appleby, led from the start and with no challengers willing to take him on, he soon pulled clear to set a new record on the course for the race distance.

Jockey William Buick said: “He’s a very energetic horse and was a little bit fresh today. He puts a lot into everything he does.

“It was an exercise where we hoped to produce, and he did it well. He’s a hugely talented horse and like Charlie said, he’s going to get a nice rest until World Cup night now.”
