Today’s racing

Rich Ricci’s first horse with trainer Venetia Williams, Royale Pagaille, will make his British debut in the novices’ chase (2m7½f) at Chepstow today.

The six-year-old, who was previously trained in France by Francois Nicolle to win once, is by Blue Bresil, the sire of Grade 1 jumps performers Mick Jazz and L’Autonomie.

Charlie Deutsch takes the ride on Royale Pagaille, who will line up against the Kim Bailey-trained Newtide and Colin Tizzard’s Vision Des Flos.

Musselburgh also race over jumps today while all-weather cards come from Lingfield, Newcastle and Dundalk (Ireland).

Five declared for Clarence House

Defi Du Seuil and Un De Sceaux look poised to renew their rivalry at Ascot on Saturday after they were among five declarations for the Grade 1 Clarence House Chase (2m1f).

The pair tussled in last month’s Tingle Creek Chase and it was Defi Du Seuil who reigned supreme.

This year’s field is completed by Janika, Marracudja and Capeland.
