Today’s racing

Wolverhampton’s all-weather meeting today will see Funny Kid and Raymond Tusk renew their rivalry in the 2m½f conditions stakes.

The pair were separated by half a length over the same distance at Newcastle last month when Raymond Tusk prevailed by half a length. It will be fascinating to see which of the two comes out on top.

They are joined in the race by Deal A Dollar, Scarlet Dragon and Rainbow Dreamer.

Storm Brendan is due to hit parts of Britain and Ireland today and that has forced both Lingfield and Punchestown to inspection this morning to see if they can stage their respective jumps cards.

Southwell also race on the all-weather today.

Andy Dufresne regains the winning thread

While he had to work hard for victory in the Grade 2 novice hurdle at Punchestown, Andy Dufresne was back in the winner’s enclosure when he gamely held off the challenge of Captain Guinness.

Racing in the green and gold silks of JP McManus, the gelding showed a willing attitude when asked by Mark Walsh to pass Captain Guinness after the final hurdle to win by three-quarters of a length.

Carefully Selected made it two from two over fences on Sunday when he was a facile winner of the Grade 3 Killiney Novice Chase at Punchestown, slamming City Island by 24 lengths.
