Tattersalls Cheltenham auctions will return to the home of jump racing for the first time since the 2020 Cheltenham Festival on November 12.

The point-to-point sales have been held at Tattersalls’ Park Paddocks in Newmarket due to the pandemic.

Matthew Prior, Head of Sales at Cheltenham, said: “Nine Cheltenham Festival-winning graduates at this year’s meeting endorses the Cheltenham Sales as the leading source of point-to-pointers to reach the highest echelons in the sport.

“While the relocation of the Cheltenham Sales to Park Paddocks at Newmarket was well received and enabled Tattersalls to continue supporting the point-to-point industry, we now look forward to returning the Cheltenham Sales back to their natural home for the autumn season.”

The Jockey Club’s South West Head of Racing Simon Claisse added: “We’re delighted to have the Tattersalls Sales return to Cheltenham during the November meeting for the first time since March 2020.

“The sales are a vital part of our sport, and we have seen some very exciting prospects sold through the ring here over the years such as Envoi Allen, Monkfish and Shishkin to name just a few.

“It’s always a fantastic atmosphere in the Tattersalls Sales Arena as we search for the next generation of stars following what we hope will have been a brilliant day’s racing.”
