As anticipated, a member of Richard Gilbert’s Straightline Bloodstock dispersal proved the highlight of this year’s Goffs UK December Horses in Training Sale at Doncaster on Friday.
Each of 14 lots within the dispersal changed hands led by Platinumcard, who was knocked down to Tom Malone for £62,000. A four-time winner for Keith Dalgleish, the Golden Lariat gelding has climbed through the rankings this year to a career high mark of 100 and was last seen running a creditable eighth in the November Handicap at Doncaster.
The Straightline dispersal also accounted for the joint second most expensive lot of the day in Ain’t No Sunshine, an unraced brother to the popular Grade 1-winning hurdler Airlie Beach. The Shantou gelding is set to race for Middleham Park Racing after selling for £35,000.
The £35,000 mark was also reached by the supplementary entry Inver Park, a winner at Ascot earlier in the year for Mick Quinn who sold to Hurworth Bloodstock.
“Undoubtedly the feature of today’s sale was the Straightline Bloodstock Dispersal and we would like to extend our thanks to Richard Gilbert for entrusting his dispersal to us,” said Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent. “These drafts offer genuine opportunities for others to benefit from the change of circumstances with the previous owner and there were a good number of buyers who attended today’s sale in the hope of securing horses from the draft.
