The decision to return to familiar territory by Shadwell Estate Company breathed some life into the third session of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale on Friday.

The colt in question was an Invincible Spirit relation to Muhaarar out of the Shadwell-bred – and sold – Safeenah, for whom Angus Gold went to 150,000gns. The result was an excellent one for the father and daughter team of Con and Amy Marnane, who sourced Safeenah as an unraced two-year-old out of the 2018 Goffs November Sale.

Safeenah is an Oasis Dream daughter of the Listed-placed Raasekha, herself a 27,000gns purchase by Blandford Bloodstock out of the Shadwell draft at this year’s Tattersalls July Sale.

“It’s a lovely Shadwell family, all speed,” said Amy Marnane of the initial attraction to Safeenah. “The mare, as a daughter of Oasis Dream, is a three-parts sister to Muhaarar, who was an exceptional racehorse.

“He was a cracking first foal with great depth and action. He’s gone to a very good home and we wish all the team at Shadwell the very best of luck with him.”
