Chloe Homer, Subscriptions Secretary with the Racehorse Owners Association, will put her riding skills to the test in a charity race at Ascot in aid of the British Horseracing Education & Standards Trust’s education programme.
The ‘Racing to School Frankel Challenge Trophy’ on Wednesday, May 2 will see 12 riders compete over one mile to raise money for Racing to School, the initiative that educates schoolchildren on the racecourse while also introducing them to the joys of horseracing.
Other confirmed participants include Chris Stickels and Barney Clifford, Clerks of the Course at Ascot and Kempton respectively, Jemima Hannon, wife of Richard Hannon jnr, and Anna Sherwood, daughter of Desert Orchid’s rider Simon Sherwood.
Chloe, who joined the ROA team in May 2011, currently rides out for Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning trainer Noel Chance and is relishing her upcoming Ascot appearance.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be riding at Ascot and in the process raising money for such a great cause.
“It’s important to encourage the next generation of racing enthusiasts and I’m delighted to play a small part in trying to do exactly that.”
Racing to School supports 10,000 children each year, many from inner city areas, giving them the opportunity to increase their teamwork skills and build their confidence.
