Racing Welfare is encouraging all those who work in the racing and breeding industry to take part in the final phase of their mental health research project with an online survey that was launched in January.

The survey, which is confidential and will take around 15 minutes to complete, aims to explore the relationship between working in racing and a person’s mental wellbeing. It is part funded by a grant from the Racing Foundation and is being researched by Will McConn at Liverpool John Moores University.

It also seeks to establish an overview of mental wellbeing in the industry, working conditions, health and professional development.

The survey is open to everyone until February 22, regardless of whether they feel their mental health falls within the spectrum, and can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/HRI_Mental_Health

Racing Welfare’s Director of Welfare, Simone Sear, said: “To have moved into this final stage of the research is really exciting.

“We anticipate that Will’s conclusions will underline a number of positive practices happening in racing at the moment, in addition to providing evidence that will help us to evolve and refine Racing Welfare’s mental health and wellbeing services for the future.”
