The Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association’s Next Generation Club has announced a new Chairman for 2013 with Sam Hoskins taking over the role from Zenia Wright.

A member of the TBA Board and co-founder of the Hot To Trot racing syndicate, Hoskins has plenty of experience in both racing and breeding, having also worked for the Niarchos family in London and for McKeever St Lawrence Bloodstock.

He said: “I am thrilled to take over as Chairman of the NGC. Our outgoing Chair, Zenia Wright, has done a great job during the last 12 months and my aim will be to continue her good work and move the club forward with the help of our enthusiastic committee.”

The NGC has a full list of events planned for the coming year, including a visit to the yard of trainer Harry Dunlop in Lambourn. The social gatherings and trips to the races are aimed at providing young people with knowledge of the bloodstock breeding industry, and to encourage the next generation of industry participants, through breeding, racehorse ownership, or simply by developing a passion for racing and breeding.

The NGC committee has two new recruits, university student Harry Beckett and bloodstock agent Charlie Budgett of McKeever Bloodstock. Completing the line-up are Gina Bryce (Channel 4 Racing), Matt Coleman (Anthony Stroud Bloodstock), Will Douglass (Gordon-Watson Bloodstock), Katherine Fidler (Racing Post), Tallulah Lewis (Weatherbys), Ali Rea (Darley), Mike Spence (Student Racing) and Hetty Stearn (Tattersalls).
