Hollie Doyle’s rich vein of form continued on Saturday when she partnered five winners on Windsor’s card and in the process became the first female jockey to record a five-timer at a British race meeting.
The first of Doyle’s quintet came when she guided the Mick Channon-trained Indian Creak to victory in the 6f handicap and that was swiftly followed in the race immediately after when Sur Mer recorded a three-quarter length success in the 5f handicap.
In the first of Windsor’s feature races on its Saturday card, Doyle was successful aboard Le Don De Vie for trainer Hughie Morrison in the Listed August Stakes and in the Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes, Doyle was an impressive victor on the Roger Charlton-trained and Imad Al Sagar-owned Extra Elusive.
Sagar’s decision to secure the services of Doyle as his retained rider earlier this year is reaping rewards with the pair having recorded four winners since their partnership began this month.
Doyle said: “I don’t think I’ve had an afternoon as good as this. I thought I was in for a good day, but after the first one of Richard Hannon’s [Dewey Road] who was odds-on and got lapped, I thought it could go one way or the other – like with those two feature races.
“I probably won’t go crazy celebrating because I’ve got Yarmouth tomorrow. I’m probably just grateful for an early enough night at home.”
Having partnered 116 winners last season and already passed the 50-winner mark this year, Doyle is hoping to continue to improve as a rider.
She added: “I just want to get stronger and stronger, and better in every aspect. I don’t think anyone is the finished article as a jockey and you never will be. I’ve still got a lot to learn.
“Hopefully, I can get past last year’s total of 116 winners. I’d like to ride 100 winners again and then pass that. I’ve got until the end of the year to do it.”
