After racing in Germany resumed on Thursday, France stages its first race meetings since mid-March today, headlined by a star-studded card at Longchamp that gets underway at 9.55am.
Victor Ludorum was one of the star two-year-olds of 2019, winning all three starts for Godolphin and Andre Fabre including the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. The son of the late Shamardal has his Classic prep in the Group 3 Prix de Fontainebleau, facing seven opponents in the mile contest.
The fillies take their turn in the Group 3 Prix de la Grotte (1m) and the Freddy-Head trained Khayzaraan, a daughter of Kingman, looks to build on her juvenile season that yielded easy victories at Deauville and Chantilly.
The most valuable race of the afternoon is the Group 2 Prix d’Harcourt (1.05pm) in which last year’s Prix du Jockey Club hero Sottsass faces eight rivals over the ten-furlong trip.
Longchamp’s card kicks off with the Group 3 Prix de Saint-Georges, a five-furlong dash that has attracted a field of ten, including Al Shaqab Racing’s lightly-raced four-year-old Duhail, winner of two of this three starts to date.
