Cieren Fallon’s growing prominence in the jockey ranks has been further solidified as Qatar Racing have appointed the 21-year-old as second jockey on a two-year deal behind their number one jockey Oisin Murphy.

Having claimed the champion apprentice title last year, Fallon secured the first Group 1 success of his career last month when guiding the Roger Teal-trained Oxted to victory in the July Cup at Newmarket.

Just last week, the son of Kieren Fallon rode out his claim with success on the Ian Williams-trained Twilight Song in a 6f novice auction stakes at Salisbury.

Speaking about his appointment, Fallon said: “I feel hugely honoured to be joining the Qatar Racing team and am very thankful for those who have supported me to date. I am looking forward to what will hopefully be a very successful partnership.”

David Redvers, Qatar Racing’s Racing Manager, added: “The one-meeting restriction, brought in by the BHA, means we need to expand our team; Sheikh Fahad and I are thrilled that Cieren is joining as second jockey – he will be a huge asset.

“Sheikh Fahad has been watching Cieren from the outset of his career and has been very impressed by his riding under the tutelage of William Haggas. He has an incredibly calm demeanour for his age, an intuitive riding style and is very level-headed.”
