Pitchall Farm resident Midnight Legend will be on show
Cheltenham’s superb three-day Open Meeting starts next Friday, 11 November, and as well as some of the best jumpers in the country, visitors to the racecourse will be able to see some of Britain’s best jumps sires.
As has become the tradition, the TBA’s National Hunt Stallion Parade, takes place at 10.45am in the parade ring on Friday. The 14 stallions on show include the country’s champion National Hunt sire Midnight Legend, whose offspring include Midnight Chase, last season’s Cheltenham Festival winner Holmwood Legend and one of the favourites of the mares’ division, Sparky May.
Midnight Legend is joined by rising stars of the jumping ranks, Black Sam Bellamy, Sulamani, Tobougg, Phoenix Reach and Rainbow High, and some exciting new additions to British stallion rosters in recent years, Schiaparelli, Recharge, Sagamix, Geordieland, Malinas, Bollin Eric and Crosspeace.
Batsford Stud’s Pasternak was best known on the racecourse for the memorable betting plunge which preceded his triumph in the historic Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket for Sir Mark Prescott and Graham Rock. As a sire, however, his son Little Josh has kept his name in lights, most notably when winning the feature race of this meeting last year, the Paddy Power Gold Cup.
